Apple’s vision is to transform Siri from merely a digital assistant into a more effective helper in users’ daily tasks. This revolution, expected by 2025, will enter our lives with iOS 18. However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, not all of these innovations will appear at the start.
The new Siri features, set to be unveiled for the first time at WWDC 2024, will not be included in the initial version of iOS 18 that Apple will release in September. Instead, Apple plans to fully renew Siri with an iOS 18 update in 2025.
Among Siri’s new capabilities are functions such as opening documents, moving notes between folders, deleting emails, summarizing articles, sharing web links via email, and accessing exclusive news sites through Apple News. Apple aims to automatically activate Siri features by analyzing the operations users perform on their devices using artificial intelligence technology.
Rumors suggest that Apple has collaborated with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into iOS 18 and is in talks to incorporate Google’s Gemini technology into the system.
Initially, the new Siri will be limited to Apple applications and will respond to only one command. However, Apple’s ultimate goal is to enable Siri to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. For example, taking a photo and immediately sharing it in a message.
According to Gurman, the basic artificial intelligence operations in iOS 18 will be performed on the device, but more complex tasks will require Apple’s cloud servers. Gurman, who previously stated that device-based AI capabilities would be privacy-focused, indicates that this approach has changed.
The countdown has begun to officially learn all these exciting innovations for the future of iOS and Siri at the WWDC 2024 event on June 10th.
