Instagram is working on a feature to create AI-powered chat themes to make conversations more personalized for users. This development was revealed by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, known for exposing unreleased Instagram features.
According to a screenshot shared by Paluzzi, Instagram plans to offer an option called “Create with AI,” which will allow users to customize chat themes using artificial intelligence. This feature will also be made compatible with WhatsApp, integrating it with Instagram’s sister platform. In the current version of Instagram, it is possible to choose from various chat themes ranging from colors to popular games, and from artists to movies.
To change your theme, you need to go to the Instagram Direct Message (DM) inbox on Android or iOS, open a chat, tap on the chat name at the top, and click on the “Themes” option. Here you can find themes like Minecraft, Pickleball, Dune, Star Wars, football, baseball, and more.
A difference seen in the leak is that the unpublished user interface shows theme options as thumbnails instead of the list in the current version. This will allow users to select themes more quickly and visually.
Early access to new features will become easier with a future update. In a screenshot shared by Paluzzi, an option called “Early Access to Features” is seen in the “Settings” and “Activity” pages of the Instagram app. Currently, Instagram relies on limited tests and public announcements to test and inform users about less developed features.
